"Readability" falls under the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) 3.1, "Make text content readable and understandable," a deceptively simplistic requirement. But thing about all the things that can go wrong: fancy font, small font, flashy or animated font, light font on light background, dark font on dark background, big words, long words, complex ideas, too many words, not enough words, redundant words, words scattered around on the page in random order, acronyms and abbreviations, words printed in images, or words in an unfamiliar language. This session will explore best practices for both making words on a page visually and audibly accessible and writing tips to make the content understandable for most users.
